Kings Park Schools Open Tuesday

Students head back after a six day absence.

Students in Kings Park will head back to school on Tuesday after an unprecedented six day absence due to Hurricane Sandy.

Accoridng to board of education member, Charlie Leo, all schools have power including Fort Salonga, which came online today. The district was updating their website and sending out a phone call to parents to notify them.

All before and after school activities have been cancelled, except for varsity football, cross country and volleyball due to playoffs.

High school students will not be permitted to park in the high school parking lot on Tuesday.

Extra chaperones will be on hand at the schools for tomorrow's election as voters head to the schools to cast their ballot.

In an email to parents, district superintendent Susan Agruso said, "We know that some families are still dealing with the loss of power and damage to their homes and hope this return to the routine of school will provide additional support and comfort. We are looking forward to having our students back in school."
