Kings Park School Budget Passes

Kings Park residents approved the school district’s $83.56 million proposed budget Tuesday by a margin of 1,814-717, according to News 12.

The budget calls for a .83 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.71 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap.

Joe Bianco and Pam DeFord won seats on the Kings Park Board of Education.

The number of students are falling, our district is not even in the top 20 on LI yet we continue to throw money on a overpaid under performing teaching staff. In the real world you get rewarded if you do a good job and fired if you do a bad one. The school board is made up of educators, and we just elected another one, its like putting a wolf in the hen house.

The school board is not made of educators. While Pam DeFord is by profession a teacher, she is only one of five members. She deserves the opportunity to help shape our schools. I couldn't agree with you more though, Ranjro, that our schools have been slipping the last few years. We will finally be free of the Goldstein/Agruso administrations soon, so hopefully things get better. It would be nice also, if we got away from the divisive partisan politics and back-biting we have seen lately, and got the teachers to negotiate a new deal that would be fair for everyone.

Personally I think doctor Agruso has been a fairly good superintendent, she is fighting a battle that simply cant be won. We have smaller enrollment and less tax dollars coming in and in order to keep programs up and running taxes need to go up. At the same time none of us want taxes to go up and most of the blame is unjustly thrust upon Agrusso.

Agrusso wanted propane busses!
