Kings Park Central School District Settles Student Lawsuit

District settles lawsuit, no obligation to pay any money.

The Kings Park Central School District announced on its website Wednesday that the lawsuit filed on behalf of a Kings Park High School student over a suspension from school has been resolved.

The district's site states that  under the settlement agreement the district will not be obligated to pay any money. The statement went on to say that the matter had been resolved to the district's satisfaction.

The suit, which was filed in Eastern District Court in Central Islip back in October 2010, claimed that Kings Park High School student Nina Ottaviano had been treated unfairly when school officials suspended her from extracurricular activities, including her ability to play varsity basketball and soccer, after she admitted giving a bottle of alcohol to another student.
