Girls Volleyball Champs Take on Top Ranked Lindenhurst

Coach Elizabeth Manly says she,"feels like she has a bunch of winners."

Kings Park, the , led by coach Elizabeth Manly, will be playing their first home game of the season against Lindenhurst, who was just ranked first in Newsday's top 5 girls volleyball teams on Long Island. Kings Park was ranked 3rd.

“Overall, I feel like I have a bunch of winners,” said Manly. “They are a great group of girls that I have coached since seventh grade.”

Kings Park returns all but one of its starters from 2011.  Joelle Goldstein, a junior who was voted 2011 Suffolk County League V Player of the Year, will return and Manley said is she is looking “as strong as ever."

“We have some powerful forces to join her,” said Manly. "Amanda Gannon will be a strong force for us this year and Kendall Corcoran as center."

Manly said, Tara Trapani, the team’s only senior, "has shown great leadership."

Manly said she is proud of the team and said they have put in some tough work over the past six months. “We are playing where we left off at the end of last season,” she said.

Kings Park, noted to be the favorite to win their division again and to compete in the Long Island Championship, should have thier 2011 LI Championship banner hung up just in time for the game.
