Five Things to Know From Tuesday Evening's Board of Education Meeting

A rundown of meeting highlights.

Here are a few highlights of Tuesday evening's board meeting.

1.     Those who have been patiently waiting can breathe a sigh of relief. The flagpole in front of RJO Intermediate School has been painted.

2.     An annual audit of the district’s finances has been completed. According to the auditing agency, no significant deficiencies were found. Check back later this week for the full story.

3.     Parents can expect progress reports, which are completed at week five, to be sent home in two weeks as students now enter their third week of school.

4.     The district is moving towards a paperless board meeting, at least for the board members. Members of the board now receive and view meeting documents via email. A few members have been using their own laptops at the meeting to view agenda items and supporting documents.

5.     Some parents raised concerns about bussing issues, questioning locations of pick up stops and whether or not they were safe. Trustee Steve Weber acknowledged inconsistencies in the bussing policies and said the district is reviewing them. Check back later for the full story.
