Event Spotlight: Varsity Soccer Game for Team Member Battling Cancer

The Kings Park girls varsity soccer team will honor Lauren Lenardi , who is battling a rare form of caner, on her 16th birthday, Thursday at their home opener.

The opening day for any sport is always an important one, but the first game for the Kings Park girls varsity soccer team on Thursday will add something even a little more special.

The team will be honoring Lauren Lenardi, who is celebrating her 16th birthday that day. Lauren played junior varsity soccer for the team, but has not played since. of her freshman year and hasn't been able to attend school.

"Lauren has remarkable strength," said coach Bridget Keenan, in an email to Patch."She inspires everyone around her and she has the ability to make those around her better people."

The Sept. 13 game, dubbed Lauren Strong, will be played at 4 p.m. at the high school as Kings Park takes on West Babylon.

"We will be honoring Lauren and all that she stands for that day and also help celebrate her 16th birthday," said Keenan.

If you would like to help support Lauren you can send donations to William T. Rogers, Attention Bridget Keenan, 97 Old Dock Road, Kings Park, NY 11764. Checks can be made payable to Love for Lauren.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!

That's funny, I spend a small fortune for school supplies for my kids. I am also asked to buy extraRead More for the kids who don't have., which I gladly do. The "society letting kids down" comment is a little over the top!!
