Common Core, National Merit Students to Take Spotlight at Board of Ed

Kings Park Board of Education will hold a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kings Park High School.

Kings Park students will be commended for their achievements as parents grapple with understanding the Common Core on Tuesday. 

Kings Park Board of Education will host a Common Core roundtable discussion with administrators and parents at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kings Park High School's cafeteria.

During the one-hour meeting, parents and district residents have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the new Common Core curriculum, how its being implemented in Kings Park schools and speak only about issues with school administrators. 

Following the roundtable discussion, Kings Park Board of Educations will host a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. in Room 101. 

School Board trustees will recognize Kings Park High School students who have been recognized by the 2014 National Merit Scholarship program as well as an outstanding employee. 

Superintendent Susan Agruso is expected to give an educational and curriculum update, which may contain further information on the implementation of Common Core concepts in the classrooms. 

School Board trustees will also discuss recent donations from Target to the districts and supplies for revamping the dugouts of Kings Park HIgh School's softball dugouts.
