Classes in Kings Park School District are cancelled on Monday, though faculty will be expected to report for a conference day.
District officials said on Sunday that power to Fort Salonga Elementary had not yet been restored as of noon, though it was expected to be back up and running by Monday.
Classes were cancelled all last week following the storm, and as of Sunday evening, over 3,000 Kings Park homes were without power, as well as over 4,000 homes in Fort Salonga.
The district posted the following instructions for teachers for Monday:
- All teachers report at 8:30 a.m. to your school.
- Park View teachers go to San Remo for grades K, 1, and 2, and to RJO for grade 3.
- All other staff members who work on Superintendent’s Conference Day report at your regularly scheduled time.
- If the power is still off in Fort Salonga, staff will gather materials needed for the day and then move to RJO.
