Barrett began the organizational meeting’s nomination process by making a motion to elect Marie Goldstein as board president. Goldstein, along with then president and trustee Tom Locascio, voted in favor last month, of forwarding Barrett's petition for removal to the commissioner.

Locascio then made a motion to nominate Barrett as vice president.

Barrett, who is appealing her petition for removal, said after the meeting she was not sure when the commissioner would have a decision on her case and declined to comment further, referring questions to her lawyer. On her election as vice president, Barrett said “we just had conversation as a board and everyone decided together on the nomination,”

At the close of Tuesday’s meeting, Goldstein said she was looking forward to the new year.

“We, as a team, will work very hard to follow in the footsteps that have been left here for us.”
