American Legion Picks 2 Kings Park Students as State Delegates

Students from American Legion Posts throughout New York learn about the practical application of government and politics.

Two Kings Park students were chosen by the American Legion Donald C. Munro Post No. 944 as their Boys and Girls State Delegates.

Patrick Shea was chosen as the Boys State representative and James Bushman was chosen as the alternate. Sydney Vignola was chosen as the Girls State Representative.

The selection, according to a statement released by Kings Park High School, was based on leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty, service, school, honesty, cooperation, maturity and a personal interview by representatives of the American Legion.

Boys State and Girls State will take place this summer where students from American Legion Posts throughout New York to form a mythical 51st State. 

The week is filled with learning and the practical application of government and politics involving in the formation of political parties, caucuses, conventions, platform development, campaigning and elections.
