Food and Diet: Fact and Fiction by Bob Rossilli, Certified Fitness Trainer, Specialist in Fitness Nutrition.

Check out these diet myth busters.

Fat will not make you fat. More calories taken in (of any kind) above calories burned each day will make you fat.

All carbs are not bad. Whole grain carbs can give you better nutrition and help you feel fuller longer. Processed carbs from “white food” are usually the problem.

Snacking is not bad for you if you eat protein and whole grains and/or fiber. Snacking on an apple and one ounce of cheese will help maintain stable blood sugar. Later in the day 1 cup of strawberries and 4 ounces of greek yogurt will serve you well.

Eggs are not bad for you. They have little effect on increasing the cholesterol in your blood but they are one of the best sources of protein you can find. A piece of 100% whole wheat toast, an egg and a few egg whites makes a fine nutritional start to the day and is great before or after you do a strength workout. A serving of oatmeal with a side of eggs is great as well just don’t sugar up the oatmeal or butter up the eggs.
