Where Are Power Outages in Kings Park?

Let us know what streets are still without power.

More than one week after Hurricane Sandy wreaked havoc on the East Coast and knocked out power for nearly 1 million Long Islanders, there are still thousands of Long Island Power Authority customers in the Kings Park area in the dark.

Patch is compiling a list of exactly what parts of the area are waiting for power. Use the comments section below to post the name of a street, business or intersection you know is still without electricity, and if you've heard from LIPA yet.

(For safety reasons, do not list specific addresses just street names and cross streets.)

Vine & King (off 25a behind Park Lounge)-- 5 homes with 3-4 poles down. Told unofficially they have to manually dig the pole holes because they don't know where the water and gas lines might be...

Cook Street, wires down Verizon came today to replace the pole and we were told they can do nothing until LIPA shuts down the power. We had been told by LIPA the lines were dead. They are low enough for someone to touch. Surprised the tree crew did not get hurt!!!!!!!

How did they replace the pole? I was told they had to dig it manually because of not knowing where gas and water were.

They could not replace the pole because the wires on it are still live. New York State Public Service Commission Office of Consumer Services Three Empire State Plaza Albany, NY 12223-1350 Toll Free: 800-342-3377 Fax: 518-472-8502 www.dps.ny.gov Call and put in a complaint against LIPA, they have a direct line to connect you to LIPA, although I have been on hold for 15 minutes it is not the same recording that you get from the regular LIPA number.

About a half-dozen fallen Locust trees took down power lines behind homes bordering the Natural Resource Area on Magellan Avenue. We all have wires hanging over fences and across lawns and patios. The entire neighborhood is without power and, based on, I suppose, other "priority situations," we will be without power for a long time.

Got a human on the line at LIPA~~she told us they are aware of the problem and the projected fix date is now 11-10-12. Glen Lane/Pulaski rd

My line is not live. I saw the LIPA worker turn it off after several calls in to LIPA, one of my neighbors who works for LIPA made sure it got turned off. That was Oct 30 at 7pm.

Crews are at my house now - let's keep our fingers crossed that the pole is not far behind. James you are right behind my house, I hope they get to you and your family next!!!
