Trotta Stakes Out Campaign Office on Main Street

Fort Salonga resident to make a run for Suffolk Legislature's 13th district seat.

Robert Trotta, a Fort Salonga resident has set up campaign headquarters on Main Street as a candidate for the Suffolk County Legislature.

Trotta, a Republican, will be running for Legis. Lynne Nowick's seat, whose term ends Nov. 13. Nowick, who currently represents the 13th district, is prevented from running for re-election due to reaching the term limit of serving in the legislature for 12 years. 

Trotta, a detective for the Suffolk County police department, is a married father of two. 

The Smitthown GOP has endorsed Paul Hennings as the Republican candidate for the legislature's 13th district, which includes Smithtown, Fort Salonga, Kings Park, San Remo, Nissequogue, Head of the Harbor, and St. James, as well as portions of Commack and East Northport.

Republican Mario Mattera, a St. James resident and Nesconset native, has also announced his intention to run against Hennings for Nowick's seat. 

Primary Day is Sept. 10. 

The Smithtown Democratic Committee has yet to endorse a candidate for the 13th legislative district.
