Tell Us if Trotta Should be Elected to Suffolk Legislature

Get on The Soapbox and let us know.

Fort Salonga resident Rob Trotta, a political newcomer, managed to walk away with a clear and decisive win in the three-way Republican primary for Suffolk County Legislature's 13th district.

Trotta won with 2,259 votes over party-endorsed candidate Paul Hennings, who received 860 votes, and challenger Mario Mattera, who received 811 votes, according to Suffolk County Board of Elections.

Now his grassroots campaign must compete against Democratic candidate Elaine Turley to win the votes this November.

That begs the question, will Trotta win office? Our new open blog, The Soapbox - Smithtown Gov't hopes to be the place where locals can debate these kids of issues in town.
