State Parks Closed Across Long Island

Parks department shuts parks from Montauk to Great River following damage from Hurricane Sandy.

New York officials have closed all state parks on Long Island due to dangerous conditions at these favorite local getaways.

The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation said parks will be closed until further notice because of scenarios ranging from downed trees and dangling branches, to beach erosion and damaged boardwalks, all due to Hurricane Sandy's punishing assault on the region.

The office also said some roadways leading to parks are damaged, such as Ocean Parkway, which saw sections of its eastbound lane washed out by the ocean.

  • Heckscher State Park - Islip

Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
