Smoking Ban Possible at Town Parks, Beaches

Supervisor Pat Vecchio calls proposal a "good health initiative," according to an article in 'Newsday.'

Smoking at public parks and beaches soon might be outlawed in Smithtown, according to an article in Newsday.

The piece states that Supervisor Pat Vecchio has directed the town attorney to draft legislation detailing a ban, which would be one of roughly a handful in New York State. A vote would reportedly not be expected before the end of the summer.

"I just figured it's a good health initiative, and that's what we ought to be doing," Vecchio told Newsday.

I was against smoking bans and raising cigarette taxes until I switched to electronic cigarettes. Now I don't have to worry, I can use my e-cig anywhere. No second hand smoke, no smell, no smoking bans and no cigarette taxes. http://www.savecig.com
