The Town of Smithtown has paid $275,000 to Northport man in a lawsuit settlement over a car accident with a town van.

The accident occurred in November of 2007 near the intersection of Route 25 and Doyle Street when a van owned by the town made a left hand U-turn and was struck by a vehicle driven by Paul Guarino.
