Hundreds gather to honor local veterans

Friday's crisp fall air wasn't a deterrent for hundreds of Kings Park residents as they came out to honor local veterans.

The parade route was full of cheering residents as the veterans, local fireman and dozens of girl scouts, boy scouts and members of local sports organizations marched by.

Rev. Sean Gann of St. Joseph's Church led the post-parade ceremony with prayer and district superintendent Susan Agruso shared her story of burying her uncle, a WWII veteran this past week.

Parade goers were invited back to the Veterans of Foreign War Hall for hotdogs and sodas after the parade.

Maureen, I would love to meet up with you and tell more stories. Can't tell all of them, but the ones I can are safe. Also you should meet with Matty O as he has great WW2. Someday all of us should meet at my house if you like and bring a friend or two. I'll furnish the pastries. Have a great evening.

Maureen..We can have a contest. I too went to school for Italian pastry and have worked in food service off and on since 1955. My last cooking job was breakfast cook at Smithtown Landing Golf. BTW, my first job in food was in 1955, got paid $.35 per hour..
