Kings Park Jogger Bitten By Rottweiler

A 53-year-old woman was bitten on the leg while jogging on St. Johnland Road on Sunday.

A woman jogging in Kings Park suffered a dog bite when a Rottweiler escaped from its home and bit her on her leg according to police.

George Beatty of Smithtown Animal Control said, the 53 year-old woman was jogging on St. Johnland Road on Sunday when the dog escaped from the homeowner’s garage and ran out and bit the woman on her calf. Animal control was contacted and then came out and took the dog to the town’s animal shelter.

“The owners have signed the dog over to us,” said Beatty. “Right now the dog is being held for observation, which is required to see if the dog has rabies.”
