Trucks Crashes Into LIE Median, Lane Closures Back Up Traffic

A tractor trailer carrying concrete dividers crashed into the Long Island Expressway median near Exit 52 causing heavy delays.

A tractor trailer truck carrying concrete dividers crashed into the median of the Long Island Expressway Wednesday afternoon.

Newsday reports the westbound truck collided with the concrete median on the LIE near Exit 52/Commack Road, according to a spokeswoman from New York Department of Transportation.

At the time of the accident, all westbound lanes were blocked in addition to two eastbound lanes of traffic as concrete dividers were laying in the roadway.

Traffic cameras show as of 2 p.m. that Suffolk County Police continue to block off the HOV lanes and left lanes in both directions as cleanup continues.

john i drove by at about 6:30. it was a green sterling 10 wheeler with a full load of tree stumps in the truck and it was towing a trailer with a excavator on it. my opinion is he was traveling too fast going east on 25 he made a left onto indian head and the truck flipped on its side spilling the tree stumps on the corner lot. the the trailer and excavator stayed upright.

He took that turn hotter than a spring '77 Grateful Dead show.

I won't argue he took the turn hot but it was probably comparable to a Europe 72 show more then a 77 show.
