Superintendent: 'Shocked' American Flag Was Stolen From Front of High School

Susan Agruso is hoping thieves will reflect on their actions and return the large American flag that was hung on the front of the high school for 9/11 and then stolen.

Shocked, is how district superintendent Susan Agruso described how she and her staff felt at the realization that the large, American flag, hung on the front of Kings Park Highs School for special occasions was gone.

“We hang the flag for graduation, for 9/11 and special occasions,” said Agruso in a phone interview Wednesday. “This beautiful flag is something that makes you pause and look at the high school.”

The flag was stolen sometime between last Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

Agruso said a couple of people went up on the roof and removed the flag.

“We normally take it down a few days after but we wanted to leave it up for our ” she said.

Agruso is hoping that someone in the community who knows something about the theft will come forward.

“We are checking cameras, going through video. We have talked to the kids and put it up on our website,” she said. “We don’t know why anyone would do this. It is quite a bit of work to get up and take down.”

Agruso said she is hoping the flag will be returned soon.

“We would like to have it back in time to hang for Veterans Day. It is a unique and special way Kings Park expresses its pride in our community.”

Anyone with information on this incident can contact the Fourth Precinct Crime Unit at 631-854-8455 or the district office at 631-269-3310.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
