Police: Islip Man Arrested for 3 Fort Salonga Burglaries

Miguel Lozano is accused of working with others in a string of local burglaries in October.

Suffolk County police have arrested an Islip man accused of working with others in a string of Fort Salonga burglaries this October.

Miguel Lozano, 32, was arrested on Dec. 13 and charged with five felony counts of second-degree burglary.

Police said Lozano broke into a Northfield Drive home in Fort Salonga between 9:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 28. He snuck into the house through an unlocked window, while another person stood as a lookout, taking cash left out in the home. No one was in the house at the time of the burglary.

Lozano attempted to enter a Woodfield Avenue home through an unlocked window between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on October. 29, according to police. He was scared off before fully entering the house.

Police said Lozano and a partner then broke into a Concord Drive home between 1:15 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. on Oct. 28. Lozano went into the home through an unlocked door, according to police, stealing jewelry and a laptop.

In addition to this trio of Fort Salonga burglaries, Lozano is also facing charges for allegedly breaking into two Commack homes on Oct. 22.

There have not been any other arrests made on these burglaries as of Dec. 19 despite police believing Lozano worked in partnership with others.

Lozano was arraigned in Riverhead courts on Dec. 18. Lozano is currently being held in jail on $10,000 cash bail. He is due back in court on Dec. 23.
