UPDATE: Fake Bomb Addressed to Obama Causes Scare at Car Wash

Original Story, published at 11:30 p.m. – Police shut down Jericho Turnpike at Ruth Avenue to Indian Head Road/Harned road in Commack Wednesday morning after a suspicious package was found at the Commack Hand Car Wash.

Suffolk County police were called to the car wash at around 10 a.m.

Officials would not immediately state why the package was thought to be suspicious, however reports from the scene suggest that the package was found in a driver's vehicle and that a bomb squad has been requested.

Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered a driver brought his Hyundai Sonata into the car wash to be detailed when a worker discovered a Rubbermaid box with an object covered in wires, tape, flares and had a letter addressed to "The President of America" with an Arabic name in the return address.

The car wash owner said that the package was addressed to "1400 Pennsylvania Street," which is an incorrect address for the White House.

A police officer donned a bomb suit to investigate the package and revealed it was a fake device.
