A Fort Salonga man was arrested Monday after police said he shot a 21-year-old man at Napper Tandy's bar in Northport Sunday night.
Steven Reilly Jr. was placed in police custody Monday after authorities said he shot a man in the upper part of his leg after a physical alternation at 10:38 p.m. that night within the bar. Police said Reilly Jr. then fled the scene in a white Taurus.
Suffolk County Police arrested him at his home on Fresh Pond Road.
The 39-year-old was charged with assault in the second Degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal use of a firearm in the second degree. He will be held overnight at the Second Precinct for his arraignment tomorrow at First District Court in Central Islip.
The victim, who was not identified, is a resident of East Northport.
Some initial reports rumored that the suspect was a New York State trooper, since the suspect shares the same name as his father, who is a retired law enforcement member, however, police confirmed that no police, either currently employed or retired, were involved in the shooting. Steven Reilly Jr. is also the son of former Huntington Town Councilwoman Susan Scarpati Reilly.
This incident was investigated by Suffolk County Police in conjunction with Northport Village Police.
