Firefighters Battle Deck Blaze at Kings Park Home

Residents escape house without injuries, cause of fire is unknown at this time.

Kings Park firefighters responded to urgent calls of a deck fire started to extend into a Riviera Drive home. 

John Gallo, third assistant chief of the Kings Park Fire Department, said a 911 call came in at 2:34 p.m. reporting a fire at 224 Riviera Drive in Kings Park. Residents of the home were inside when the blaze started. 

Gallo said roughly 30 firefighters responded to the scene to find the house's back deck engulfed in flames, quickly spreading to the house. It took crews roughly 40 minutes to extinguish the fire and bring it under control. 

Town of Smithtown's fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate. The cause of the fire has not been determined as of 5 p.m. Monday and extent of he damage is still being evaluated. 

Northport Fire Department provided assistant by sending on engine and an ambulance to cover Kings Park Fire District while they responding to the fire.
