Fire Engulfs Home on Woodvale Avenue

All occupants were able to safely escape.

A fire engulfed a Kings Park home in flames during the early morning hours on Friday.

According to the Kings Park Fire Department, a call was received at 2:13 a.m. about a vehicle fire on Woodvale Avenue. Upon arriving the department said the fire had spread to the home.

Ed Goutink, a spokesperson for the department, said three propane tanks in the vicinity of the vehicles exploded, fueling the fire.

Several firefighters were treated on the scene for minor injuries including many who had to cool down due to the summer heat. Nearly seventy-five firefighters were on the scene at the height of the fire, according to the department.

All occupants were able to safely get out of the home.

Fire departments from five neighboring towns aided local fire fighters in getting the fire under control.

The fire is under investigation by the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad.
