Crimes Nearby: Puppy Stolen From Huntington Pet Store

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County and New York State Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Suffolk County and New York State Police Department reported the following arrests.

Three Village

A Stony Brook man was arrested April 12 at the Sixth Precinct and charged with four counts of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Police say Jeffrey Anderson, 24, possessed four stolen motorcycles valued at more than $3,000 each, including two 2006 Honda motorcycles, a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle, and a 2007 Honda motorcycle.

The motorcycles were stolen from three different locations in Central Islip and one in Holbrook in September and October of 2008.

Anderson was arraigned April 13 at First District Court in Central Islip.

Hauppauge

William Byrus, 20, of Hauppauge, was charged with possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of marijuana on April 9. Police said Byrus was at Glenwood Drive in Hauppauge at 12:30 p.m. when he was charged.

Ryan O’Toole, 23, of Hauppauge, was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police said O’Toole was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi on Landing Avenue and Route 25 at 2:42 a.m. when he was charged with DWI.

Gerson Mata, 22, of Hauppauge, was charged with violating an order of protection on April 7 in Bayshore.

Joseph George, 46, of Hauppauge, was charged with operating a vehicle without an interlock device installed. Police said Joseph was in Oakdale Bohemia Road in Oakdale when he was found to be operating a vehicle without the interlock device.

Commack

Matthew Gattuso, 30, of Commack, was arrested April 13 and charged with criminal mischief - intentional property damage. Police said Gattuso intentionally kicked the front passenger corner panel of a 2008 Saturn parked in the Mayfair Shopping Center, causing damage to the vehicle.

Nicole Torres, 20, of Central Islip, was arrested April 8 and charged with criminal possession of marijuana in public. Torres allegedly found in possession of marijuana at 12:40 a.m. in the hotel, according to police reports.

Waldo Vergara, 49, of Northport, was arrested April 8 and charged with driving while intoxicated - first offense. Police said Vergara was driving westbound on Route 25 in a 2010 Nissan when he was pulled over for speeding. It was quickly determined Vergara had been drinking, according to police reports.

Lauren Hinton, 20, of Commack, was arrested April 7 and charged with petit larceny. Police said Hinton stole dimmers from a residential home.

Smithtown

Margaret Rooney, 28, of Middle Island, was arrested in Smithtown on April 12 at 8:50 p.m. on seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charges. Reports state Rooney was arrested at the Smith Haven Mall seated in a 2004 Toyota Camry while in possession of prescription pills.

A 17-year-old Selden girl was arrested in Smithtown on April 11 at 10:52 p.m. on seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charges. Reports state she was arrested at the fourth precinct for being in possession of prescription drugs.

Huntington

Jovan Davis from Central Islip was arrested April 4 in Huntington for bigamy.

Police are searching for a woman who stole an expensive puppy from a pet store in Huntington Station Friday.

According to police, an unknown white female walked into Canine Corral and stole a white Bichon Frise puppy, valued at $1,300, from the open pen where the dog was kept. The woman, described by police as being 25-35 years old and heavyset, fled the store with the puppy in her large handbag. She was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with bold stripes.
