Crimes Nearby: Port Jefferson Station Man Charged in Armed Robbery

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Three Village
• Suffolk police arrested a Patchogue man on a felony assault charge after he reportedly hit another man over the head with a glass bottle. Police charged Richard Serrano, 20, with assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon following the April 30 incident, which happened on Waverly Avenue in Holtsville. 

The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. Serrano was then arrested on Nicolls Road in Stony Brook at approximately 11 p.m. Court records show Serrano was arraigned May 4 and was held on $15,000 cash bail or $5,000 bond, which was not posted. He is due back in court in July.

• Robert Allen, 53, a sex offender formerly living in Centereach, was arrested May 1 in Setauket on a felony charge of failing to register a new residence under New York State sex offender laws. Allen allegedly did not inform authorities that he had moved, which is required within 10 days of a change in address, and was arrested on a warrant. A police spokesperson could not disclose Allen's status as a level 1, 2 or 3 sex offender.

• A resident of Upper Sheep Pasture Road reported receiving a suspicious package on May 1 at 9:21 a.m., and employees at a business located on Technology Drive reported receiving a suspicious package at noon on April 26. In both instances, Suffolk police confiscated the packages for further investigation.

Commack
 • A tip led to the arrest of Charise Akins, 34, of Brentwood, on a felony drug charge for the alleged possession of cocaine at the Commack Motor Inn

• Joseph Russo, 52, of Copiague, was arrested after he allegedly stole two HP desktop computers from Walmart in Commack. When police placed him under arrest to charge him with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, on April 30, they found there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest related to another larceny charge, according to police.

Port Jefferson
• A 32-year-old Port Jefferson Station man was caught nine days after he allegedly robbed a Selden gas station at gunpoint.  

Police said Kevin Walter held up a Sunoco station on Middle Country Road in Selden, displaying a black pistol and demanding cash on April 21 at about 2:20 a.m. The cashier complied, but police didn’t disclose how much cash Walter took. 
Walter's vehicle was later identified using surveillance footage from the gas station, police said. He was arrested in Selden on April 30 at about 10:35 p.m.
