Crimes Nearby: 3 Charged In Commack Home Burglaries

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County police reported the following information:

Commack

Michael Duffus, 47, of Commack was arrested Jan. 10 in Smithtown and charged with three counts of second degree burglary. He is accused of burglarizing homes in Commack and Smithtown.

Kathy Tuifel, 53, who has no known address, was arrested Jan. 10 in Smithtown and charged with second degree burglary. She is accused of breaking into a home in Commack.

Salvatore Marotta, Jr., 45, of Amityville was arrested Jan. 10 in Smithtown and charged with second degree burglary. He is accused of breaking into a home in Commack.

Nicholas Koscik, 21, of Commack was arrested Jan. 6 in Commack and charged with fourth degree grand larceny. He is accused of making fraudulent returns at Petsmart.

Jeffrey Spoto, 21, of Wilmington, Del. was arrested Jan. 6 in Commack and charged with operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs, fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and second degree criminal impersonation. Reports indicate Spoto was sitting in the driver's seat of a running vehicle on Jericho Turnpike allegedly in possession of marijuana when he was approached by a police officer. He is also accused of lying about his name.

Smithtown

Thomas Scally, 36, of Selden and Michael Bowe, 35, of St. James were arrested Jan. 10 in St. James and charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana. Reports indicate they were sitting in a car at the time of the arrest.

Patrick Falk, 19, of Smithtown was arrested Jan. 7 in Smithtown and charged with second degree possession of a forged instrument. He is accused of possessing an altered driver's license while driving in St. James.

Egbert Profitt, 42, of Huntington, John Chiarella, 33, and David Jacobs, 26, both of Nesconset, were arrested Jan. 7 in Nesconset and each charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument. The incident occurred on Woodview Drive in Nesconset.

Alexa Avellino, 20, and Marisa Chayet, 21, both of Nesconset, were arrested Jan. 7 in Nesconset and charged with loitering, unlawful use of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument. Reports indicate they were in a vehicle on Lake Drive in Nesconset at the time of the arrest.

Hauppauge

Lee Colfin, 30, of Nesconset, Christopher Loeb, 25, of Smithtown and Francis Loeb, 30, of Smithtown, were arrested Jan. 7 in Nesconset and each charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny and five counts of criminal possession of stolen property.

John Bonghi, 23, of Centereach, was arrested Jan. 5 in Islandia and charged with third-degree burglary. He is accused of unlawfully entering Walmart and stealing a bucket containing wheel weights.

Three Village

Daniel Fisk, 20, of Port Jefferson, was arrested Jan. 6 at about 4:30 p.m. and charged with third degree criminal mischief. He was on Chambers Street in Setauket when he allegedly struck a Honda with a baseball bat.

Leo Fallon, Jr., 41, of Nesconset, was arrested Jan. 8 at about 1:30 a.m. and charged with first offense DWI. He made a left turn from the Walmart parking lot in South Setauket onto Route 347, allegedly screeching tires and nearly hitting the guardrail, attracting the attention of the police.
