Cops: West Hempstead Teen Cut Victim During Drug Deal

Matthew Sinatro, 17, is charged with assault and weapons possession after he allegedly slashed another teen during a botched drug deal.

Cops arrested a West Hempstead teen at his home early Tuesday morning after police say he slashed another teen who allegedly tried to steal marijuana from him.

According to Nassau County Police, Matthew Sinatro, 17, met another 17-year-old male at the corner of Marcellus Road and Jackson Avenue in Mineola to sell him marijuana. The teen took the marijuana from Sinatro and tried to flee the scene without paying for it, police say, but he didn't get far. Sinatro located him at Jericho and Beebe Road, allegedly produced a knife and cut the victim on the face, arms and torso, according to detectives from the Third Squad.

The victim was removed to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday morning. Detectives located Sinatro at his residence around 12:30 a.m., recovered a black folding knife and placed him under arrest. He is charged with second degree Assault and fourth degree Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead Tuesday.

The above information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

"The only mistake this poor young man made was not finishing the job." you're right, dealing drugs wasn't a mistake at all.
