A Bay Shore couple tried to burglarize a home and minutes later burglarized a second home in Dix Hills Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Suffolk police say they responded to a 911 call after a female resident of a home on Knox Place spotted a suspicious man walking outside of her house at about 12:10 p.m.

The man rang her doorbell and when she did not answer, he went to the rear of the home and threw a rock through a window, police said.

The man fled when confronted by the homeowner.  While canvassing the neighborhood in his patrol car, Officer Ryan West heard a woman screaming from a home on Village Hill Drive. The woman was yelling out a window because an unknown man had entered her home. When Officer West approached the residence, the suspect fled and a foot pursuit ensued, police said.

Police, along with aviation and canine section officers, searched the area. After approximately 20 minutes, two people who noticed the police activity and observed police chasing Munoz managed to detain him on the Long Island Expressway Service Road near Commack Road in Dix Hills.

Detectives charged Jose Munoz, 38, of Penataquit Avenue, Bay Shore, with second-degree burglary and second-degree attempted burglary.  Munoz is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.

While searching for Munoz, officers observed a woman, Yolanda Santos, walking around the neighborhood acting suspiciously. An investigation revealed that Santos was Munoz’s accomplice and girlfriend, police said.

She was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary for the burglary on Village Hill Drive and second-degree attempted burglary for the attempted burglary of the home on Knox Place.

Santos, 30, also of Penataquit Avenue, Bay Shore, was also charged with second-degree burglary for breaking into a home on Stonehurst Lane in Dix Hills on Friday June 20.  Santos is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.

To bad the homeowner didn't have a shotgun in hand. Two dead savages lying in the back yard. Shame shame. How about getting a job like the rest of us.

They need therapy the government needs to help them they have a disease. We need more programs for them. Burglary is a disease. It's the homeowners fault. Not these 2.
