Kings Park Has Enough...[POLL]

Instead of what you want to see in Kings Park, what does Kings Park have enough of?

Sensing a trending topic from an earlier story about the which asks what readers want to see in that space, we ask just for fun, what don't you want to see in that space.

We get the sense from readers like Steve Platz and Jack Hessel that the town has enough nail salons, barber shops and delicatessens. Would you agree? What other businesses have saturated the area? Answer in our poll below.

We don't need any of the above. However an Auto Parts store would be a great addition to Kings Park.

That's actually a very good idea. I recall a time when TWO auto parts stores flourished in town. Closest place for auto parts right now would be the Pep Boys in Commack. An auto parts store where the Verizon store just closed would work out nicely....

A privately owned auto parts shop sounds good. No big names. Or something for our seniors to keep this place a quiet area. I'm not a senior citizen, but one of the reasons I love kings park is because its quiet and the crime rate is low. We should keep it that way. If I want a little more going on, there is plenty of that right outside of kp. And please add no more bars and pizza places to that list! And this shouldn't be for fun... We should get our voices heard. Don't let certain business come in. How many pizza and nail salons need to be around here? Or bars. Another thought, how about a teen hang out that supports good clean fun for our kids. Table tennis, pool tables, etc. Like a teen center where you need a membership card and they can swipe when they come in so no other town kids come in. Or maybe they can, but they must sign in on a guest list. Town run. Taxes are high enough...may as well do something else with it than spend several million on the library each year. (Not that updating books and media, etc isn't important) just maybe all of that money isn't needed.

yes, we have a lot of car DIY'ers in this town. We need an autoparts store. We could do with less Chinese restaurants.

Enough crappy pizzeria's and def. way too many nail salons.. KP is losing a lot of business lately, something like a "four star" variety store would bring more consumers in locally & from surrounding neighborhoods.

Although it wouldn't fit in that location I would love o see a nice car wash in town. Even the self serve style would be a nice addition. Some other ideas would be a small local hobby shop/craft store or a pet store. Hate dealing with the large chain style stores.

How about a marine store that could help out all the local boaters? Trailer parts, boating materials? We have the docks and the ramps, how about the nuts and bolts to go along with it?
RJM February 26, 2012 at 12:32 PM
Diane the hardware store has a small section for marine parts. Not a full fledged store but good for the boating essentials/ emergency needs.

An auto parts store wouldn't be able to cater to everyone unfortunately...there's no way it can stock the variety that a huge store like Pep Boys has. I wouldn't mind seeing a high end cheese/meats shop with some other specialty goods.

We have a great pet store! Lindsey's Groom Room carries everything you could possibly need – dog and cat toys, beds, collars and leashes, all kinds of foods and treats. Lindsey even special orders my Golden's food - at a better price than any pet store in the area. She also carries anything you need for your rabbit, hamster, ferret, or bird. This place really has so much stuff and if it isn’t there, Lindsey will get it.

I'm considering bringing a business into Kings Park. I'm not sure what I want to do, but I would like to bring a little more night life to main street. I will be reading your comments here to get some ideas about what people in the town want, so please type away. Thanks

How about a Fresh fruit and Vegetable market!! The Farmers Market is great, but we need something year round, since Keyfood produce is terrible!!!
mary ellen moire June 19, 2012 at 03:54 PM
I suggested a fruit & vegetable market a few weeks back when Plum Crazy closed. I think that would be great! I remember the days when we had fruit & vegetable stands and you could get such delicious tomatoes in the summer. We used to have an auto parts store where Dunkin Donuts is now - not sure why it closed so many years back.

Yes! A car wash!! What a great idea. I would love a local car wash nearby. The three I know of are pretty out of the way: Touch of Class in Saint James; Commack Hand Wash Car Wash; Larkfield Road (can't remember name).

How about a local wine and tappas bar with local musicians entertaining the patrons.
Adastra32 September 27, 2012 at 01:27 AM
Love the idea of a local wine and tappas bar! Local musicians! Great idea. Let's have something for the adults to enjoy a night out!

Auto Parts and a car wash would be great. no more Nails, Pizza or Icecream. Also A nice place for the kids to hand out with Table games, pool tabels, & maybe even small bowling alley.Or Remember Tiffeny wine and Cheese, all the games minus the wine.
