Bike Rodeo

Fort Salonga PTA had it's first Bike Rodeo and safety
clinic on Tuesday June 17th.  Over 80 students came down to the school and learned very important
bike safety tips. The PTA hosted the event for the students and
their siblings.

The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office offers a Bike Rodeo and Safety Clinic to
teach kids the real world skills they need to ride a bicycle safely. Lessons
such as where to ride on the road, how to hand signal, how to safely cross
an intersection, and how to properly wear a bicycle helmet are demonstrated
and discussed by Sheriff's Officers. Participants can test their steering
skills and practice safe riding, all while having fun.

The kids who bike helmets didn't fit or were out dated they got brand new
ones from a grant the sheriff Office applied for.

The Kids had a wonderful time and it was a huge success.

The next day in school the children had a wonderful Bike safety assembly
given by Karen Blackburn from AAA.
