Weekly Planner: Back to School Nights, Food Drives and Board of Ed Meeting

Here's what's happening in and around Kings Park this week.

 

With back to school comes back to school nights. Each year the Kings Park Classroom Teachers Association and the Kings Park Retired Teachers Association along with Kings Park High School students collect nonperishable food items on back to school night at each building. The collected food is distributed to local families through the Kings Park High School Food Bank. Boxes can be found in the lobby of each school.

If you are interested in joining the adventures of scouting and have a boy entering 1st through 5th grade, come out to find out how you can register your son in the only year round program for boys. Park View Elementary, Monday, 6-8 p.m.

This trip will take place on Sept. 19. A national tribute of remembrance to the men, women and children killed in the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 and Feb. 26, 1993.  Experience the site, visitors will get lunch on their own. Bus departs from Sleepy's parking lit in Smithtown, Thursday, Sept. 19, 8:45 a.m.

The Kings Park Board of Education meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The board will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an executive session meeting to discuss negotiations with counsel. A copy of the agenda can be found here by clicking on the BOE meeting link.

The Girls Varsity Soccer Team is hosting the event as they take on West Babylon. Come show support for Lauren Lenardi on her 16th birthday, who is  battling cancer. Shirts will be sold, bracelets, food and there will be raffles as well. Thursday, 4 p.m. at the high school.
