Weekend Planner: Food, Football and the Great Cow Harbor Race

Here's what's happening in and around Kings Park this week.

 

In the mood to taste the extraordinary food the supermarkets are pushing while you shop? You could do so this Sunday starting at 11 a.m. with the food sampling at Uncle Giuseppe's, located at 95 Route 111 in Smithtown.

Kingsmen Football

Head down to Hauppauge High School to root on the Kings Park  varsity football team in their second home game of the 2012 season at 6 p.m. Friday.


Lace up your ice skates at  in Hauppauge for their "Rock 'n' Roll" ice skating session on Friday from 8:15 p.m. - 10:15 p.m. Enjoy the latest music while iceskating. Admission is $12.


Grab your favorite board game and head down to the on Friday at 1 p.m. Play a round of bridge or Mah Jong with others and make new friends.

The Great Cow Harbor 10 Kilometer Race: This race combines small-town ambience with national-class competition. Set in Northport Village, the course offers a series of rolling green hills, a panoramic view of the Long Island Sound, and a down hill finish, as well as a "world-class" post race party. Saturday at 8:30 a.m.by Laurel Avenue School.

Cow Harbor Day: Cow Harbor Day is the traditional annual festival celebrating the history of the Village of Northport on Long Island in NY.  The name comes from "The Great Cow Harbor" this is what the Village was called years ago as the cows use to graze on the fields along the Harbor which are now two lovely parks. Sunday all day.

I just saw this dog running down sunken meadow rd. on Monday afternoon around 4:45.
