Angela Blanchet said the idea to build a shrine at her home in honor of St. Therese came to her in dreams, she didn’t question why, but instead took it as a sign of faith and perhaps a call to help children, like her son Ben who has autism.
“I was visited by St. Therese "The Little Flower" on many occasions over the last few years. She appeared to me in dreams with specific requests," said Blanchet.
" It started with her asking me to visit her other shrine in Hauppauge. I didn't really know why I was going, but figured it had something to do with my son, Ben, who has autism.”
Blanchet said the messages in the dreams became more specific. She made a shrine for St. Therese and put it in front of her home and said that people stop by there, looking for comfort.
“To my amazement, the word has spread, that this small, intimate shrine on my front lawn is a place where people can come to pray and make a prayer request. I love to look outside and find people sitting there in search of comfort. It has renewed my faith along with so many others," said Blanchet.
This has inspired Blanchete to begin her who will be joined by two sisters from Little Flower Children and Family Services. “They will be sharing in blessings and prayer celebration,” said Blanchet.
She believes that this is a way to help other children.
“It has now become the mission of our family to help St. Therese on her mission to help others in her little way," said Blanchet. "Our goal is to start a non profit organization in her name to help children with needs. We are hopeful that each year, our shrine will be added to and our feast day celebration will be bigger and bigger."
