Event Spotlight: Welcome Home a Kings Park Soldier

Senior Chief with the United States Navy, Jeff Callaghan, returns home Friday evening. Welcome him as his flight lands at McArthur Airport.

Residents can welcome home a local soldier who is returning home Friday evening, when his plane lands at McArthur Airport.

Senior Chief, Jeff Callaghan has served his last deployment and is retiring from the Navy. Callaghan is also a New York City firefighter. The Long Island Chapter of the U.S Veterans Motorcycle Club will be on hand to welcome home Callaghan, along with Navy Commander Tim McAllister of Riverhead.

The club asks that those who are welcoming them home respect the privacy of the men as they are coing direct from being deployed and have not had downtime in the states yet.

Date: Friday Sept. 28

Where: Long Island MacArthur Airport

Escort Staging: Airport Diner, Lakeland & Vets Hwy

Check the McArthur Airport Facebook for updates on arrival time. As of noon Thursday, the flight arrival time had been changed to 10:50 p.m.

Note: Please bring American flags and signs of thanks and welcome home.

The club also asks that if you are participating in the escort, please abide by the following:

  • During escort please keep bights and spotlights off, as well as any non-dot lighting off.
  • If you have a bike-mounted flag, please have one designed for road use, such as Rivco.
  • There will be outriders as well at emergency vehicles supporting this escort, so you must stay in the escort lanes and do NOT sway into other lanes.
  • This is a ride at your own risk escort.

Please attend the diner ride briefing if you plan on participating in the escorts.

Please spread the word, as these Welcome Homes are a community event and all that support our Military & Veterans are encouraged to attend.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!

That's funny, I spend a small fortune for school supplies for my kids. I am also asked to buy extraRead More for the kids who don't have., which I gladly do. The "society letting kids down" comment is a little over the top!!
