Third Annual 'Evelyn Knapp Run to Remember' November 18 at Sunken Meadow

Strength for Life's November 18th Run at Sunken Meadow will go on!!

Strength for Life 's Third Annual Run will go on!!!! Trust that this was a hard decision for us to make with all that our families, friends and neighbors have been through.

Debbie and I went on a tour of the course at Sunken Meadow yesterday with the cross country coordinator, Mark. The course will be different – it will include ‘Long Meadow’ for those of you familiar with Sunken Meadow trails. As you may know the dam was ruined so the course needed adjustment – the final course (with cardiac and snake) will be 3.0 miles – there was no way he could get that last little bit to make it 5K (believe me, we tried). Trust that we debated holding this run considering the length – however even postponing the run to the spring the course will be the same.

Our first concern, which we deliberated over, was holding our event after all the destruction Sandy has inflicted – but decided to make it a ‘go’ and hope that by donating half of the proceeds to the Sandy victims and collecting food and cleaning items (which seem to be needed the most ) we are doing some good.

And then we understand how everyone can use the ’release’ of the run on this challenging course.

There are the stories of our friends and supporters, our survivors along with too many others that have lost so much and we hope we can make a difference in their lives.

Below is the link to the Active registration  - please support us and help us to continue to assist cancer survivors and, now, our Long Island families hurt by Sandy.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!

That's funny, I spend a small fortune for school supplies for my kids. I am also asked to buy extraRead More for the kids who don't have., which I gladly do. The "society letting kids down" comment is a little over the top!!
