3rd Annual "Evelyn Knapp 5k Run to Remember" and First 3K Wellness Walk

Third Annual Run to benefit cancer patients/survivors on Long Island, November 18, 2012 at Sunken Meadow State Park.

Strength for Life, a 501 (c) 3 organization, providing FREE exercise classes and wellness retreats to cancer patients on Long Island is holding our Third Annual Run on November 18th at Sunken Meadow State Park.

Strength for Life relies on our fund-raising events to support our programs at NO COST to survivors, please come out and challenge yourself on the trails of Sunken Meadow and help cancer patients/survivors feel their absolute best.

Strength for Life was founded in memory of Evelyn Knapp, an exercise physiologist, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2005 at 40 years old. Evelyn was known to push people out of their comfort zones to achieve optimal conditioning. She continued to exercise through treatment  saying it gave her a sense of control in a situation that was out of control.  Strength for Life is our answer to her vision to continue to help cancer patients/survivors, through treatment and post treatment, feel their absolute best. Sunken Meadow was Evelyn's favorite course to run.

Come and experience the trails of Sunken Meadow OR the boardwalk for the Wellness Walk. In addition there is a 1/4 mile Kids Fun Run - there is an activity for the whole family...join us!

To learn more about our classes and wellness retreats please visit our website at www.strengthforlifeNY.org.  Classes are held at various locations to make it as accessible as possible to cancer patients/survivors to attend.  The Stony Brook Cancer Center; Breast Cancer Help; STARS Rehabilitation, East Meadow; Seaford United Methodist Church are among the current locations.

I just saw this dog running down sunken meadow rd. on Monday afternoon around 4:45. We tried callingRead More it but it ran into the st. johnland nursing home and wouldn't come to me when I tried calling it over. It looks like a shepherd mix and seems a little frightened. I called smithtown animal shelter but no one answered.
