Kings Park Boy Scout Earns Highest Honors

Thomas Loiacono of Kings Park awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on Sunday.

A Kings Park Boy Scout has been recognized for his leadership skills by being awarded the highest honors and rank possible.

Thomas Loiacono of Boy Scout Troop 75 was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at his Court of Honor ceremony held on Jan. 4. His achievement was recognized by Suffolk Legis. Rob Trotta, R-Fort Salonga.

For his service project, Loiacono rehabilitated a pond at SCOPE Center at Alfred E. Smith Sunken Meadow State Park. He cleaned the pond of debris, enlarged it and fitted it with a new pump and screens to help keep out leaves and protect the fish.

“I am extremely impressed by Thomas’s involvement in the Boy
Scouts and his scouting history. His achievement has set a high standard of commitment and dedication, which I hope will inspire the youth of our great County of Suffolk," Trotta said of Loiacono.
