Kings Park Farmers Market Set For Early Start

Locals can get their fix of fresh, regional produce starting May 5.

The Kings Park Farmers Market will get an earlier start this season, kicking off on May 5 ahead of last year’s June start.

The market will offer regional produce including vegetable, herbs, fruits, plants, baked goods, and a variety of fish and shellfish, eggs, cheeses, pasta, pickles and fair trade products. The market will also stock gluten free products, handcrafted soaps, poultry and pork.

“We are very happy to be in Kings Park for the spring planting season,” said program director, Bernadette Martin. “We will have a great selection of certified organic vegetable and herb plants for your home garden as well as flats and hanging baskets too.”

Donations of fresh and canned foods will be collected for St. Joseph’s Church in conjunction with the St. Vincent De Paul Society at the market manager’s tent beginning May 5 and every Sunday thereafter.

The farmers market is located in the municipal lot at Church and Main Street and is open from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. and will run until November 17. Visit their Facebook page here.
