NISSEQUOGUE CHAPTER OF THE ORDER OF THE ARROW: TO HOLD CALL OUT CEREMONY

 ,   Add to calendar
478 Elwood Road Elwood NY 11731  See map

The Nissequogue Chapter of Shinnecock Lodge (Boy Scouts of America Order of the Arrow) will be holding a call out ceremony Thursday evening May 10th prior to Matinecock District's Roundtable meeting at John Glenn High School in Elwood.

Due to poor weather conditions on the original call out date the Chapter has added this Ceremony for those candidates who weren’t able to attend on April 20th.  Registration will begin at 6:00pm with the Ceremony starting at dusk (6:30pm).

The Order of the Arrow is the National Honor Camping Society for the Boy Scouts of America; its members can be recognized by the white sash worn with their Scout uniform.  Eligible Scouts having met the criteria (being a First Class Scout or higher rank, living the scout spirit, and within a two year period camped a minimum of 15 days, including a week-long camping experience) must then be elected by their Scouting peers at weekly troop meetings to become candidates to join the Order of the Arrow.

In full view of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and family members representing Scout Troops, Cub Packs, and the Smithtown and Huntington area communities, those nominated Scouts from the Matinecock District will be recognized at this annual Ceremony.  As dusk gathers, the scouts and those present will be able to watch as the Nissequogue Chapter's Ceremony Team, dressed in Native American regalia, proceeds with the Call Out Ceremony.

The Nissequogue Chapter normally meets on the second Thursday each month, the same night as roundtable, at John Glenn High School, off Elwood road, at 7:30pm.  All past and present members are welcome to participate. For more info, please contact Chapter Adviser Bill Davis Sr. at 631-942-9093 or at matelope185@aol.com.   Please visit our web site at http://nissequogue.webs.com for more info on the chapter.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!

I just saw this dog running down sunken meadow rd. on Monday afternoon around 4:45. We tried callingRead More it but it ran into the st. johnland nursing home and wouldn't come to me when I tried calling it over. It looks like a shepherd mix and seems a little frightened. I called smithtown animal shelter but no one answered.

A dog matching this description was just on my street, Lyn Oak Lane, on Monday afternoon. I calledRead More Smithtown Animal Shelter but they wouldn't come. I tried to get the dog but he would not come and growled. The dog does not have a collar on.
