Youth Leadership Program To Kick Off This Summer

Program designed to help middle school kids learn leadership skills.

Applications are being accepted for two community youth leadership programs to be held this summer and fall.

The Smithtown Youth Bureau and the League of Women Voters of Smithtown are seeking eighth, ninth or tenth-grade students to be selected for the upcoming programs. The program, for those who are selected, will help build leadership and communication skills and will discuss the qualities of being a leader.

According to Patsy Hirschorn, executive director of the Smithtown Youth Bureau, the program allows participants to put their ideas into action.

“The skills gained and successful project completion will show the entire Smithtown community that these are true student leaders who will continue to grow in that role in the coming years” said Lisa Scott of the League of Women Voters.

Application forms can be downloaded or for more information call the Smithtown Youth Bureau at (631)360-7595 or contact Patsy Hirschhorn by email at phirschhorn@tosgov.com. All youth must apply and make a commitment to the full program. Only a limited number of spaces are available.
