Weekend Planner: Tee Off For KP's Finest, Hit the Dance Floor or Support A Canine Companion

Your guide to what's happening in and around Kings Park this weekend.

Dance the night away for a good cause. All proceeds will be donated to Memorial Sloan Kettering Pediatric Ophthalmic Oncology. Come on out for a fun night of Zumba and a chinese auction to help a great cause.

The school will present a weekend of music on Friday and Saturday at 7 P.M. and Sunday at 1 and 3 p.m. Come down and hear students and teachers perform.

For 20 years, this Golf Outing was known as the Mark Crowley Memorial Golf Outing, or simply, the Crowley, in memory of Mark, who passed away after a battle with Leukemia. All proceeds (and there were a lot) went to aid in the fight against Leukemia.

Fast forward to 2010, and the event was renamed Kings Park’s Finest. In addition to memorializing Mark, it now memorializes Ray Maher Jr and Rob Iannone and now proceeds go to benefit those in the fight against Bipolar and Huntington’s Disease, in addition to the National Leukemia Society.

This years outing will take place on Monday, June 11, 2012 at The Smithtown Landing Golf Course. Shotgun start at 8AM, with registration and continental breakfast at 7AM.

Join the Long Island Chapter of Canine Companions for Independence for their “Wag n’ Wheels" Event of 2012, sponsored by Smithtown Scion. It will be held on Saturday, June 9th, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM rain or shine at Scion of Smithtown. It is a fun-filled family day with hands on activities for the kids, demonstrations, a live radio broadcast, prizes, raffles, food & refreshments and more.

Put your treasure hunting skill to the test solving puzzles, decoding encrypted clues and more at Caleb Smith State Park on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required, activity recommended for ages 7 and up.

Apparently you are not the only one this is happening to. From what I understand if these signs areRead More on a main drag somehow they are disappearing in the middle of the night. Hmmm, now I wonder who or what organization could be doing this illegal act? I'm not going to make an educated guess who could be involverd in this deed but I think if Kings Parkers do some research they are smart enough to figure out who does not want the real facts of the "Uplands Project" to come to light. Displaying these signs is a way of making the public aware of the atrocity of this project. Questions will then be asked. Making a night run to remove them is, at the least, a cowardly act that should be publicized every time it occurs!
