Smithtown Environs: Village of the Branch by Brad Harris.

The fourth of four lectures in Smithtown Historical Society’s Mondays in March Free Lecture Series. This talk focuses on the area of Smithtown called the Village of the Branch. Discover how it became an incorporated village. Hear why the wealthier citizens of Smithtown Branch opted to break away to form their own government & learn how it still affects the greater Town of Smithtown today. Art Exhibition

Exhibition juror James Henry Rubin’s exhibit call for entries noted that reflection be either a physical or a psychological phenomenon. Together they evoke the interplay between perception and conception. He selected 42 artists for the exhibition, which will include 68 artworks in a wide variety of media including watercolor, oil, charcoal, bronze, archival prints, mixed media sculpture and more. Includes work by Kings Park artist, Pamela Waldroup. Friday, 10 a.m.

Children In Change

Children in Change focuses on youth with changing family dynamics. This could include divorce, parents in jail, drug and alcohol dependencies, remarriage, homelessness, etc. The target audience is middle school students.

“We want a safe place where children can express themselves and find they're not the only ones going through change in their family,” stated Lindsay Sommeso, the Community Relations Specialist and co-leader of the new program. She and Rebecca Maier, a second semester Stonybrook Graduate Student, will be holding the program in the Community Room of the Horizons building located at 161 E. Main Street, Smithtown on Mondays for one-hour long sessions. Participants should use the community room entrance in the back of the building. Monday, 4 p.m.

Psychic Chip Coffey at Katie's Bar

Psychic/Medium Chip Coffey (of A&E's Psychic Kids & Paranormal State) is thrilled to return to Katie's Bar in Smithtown, for a Gallery Reading and discussion about the bar's history and reported paranormal activity.

The event includes a question-and-answer session with a brief intermission followed by readings for randomly selected audience members.

Board of Education

The Kings Park Board of Education will meet on Tuesday evening at 7:30 at the high school. A discussion regarding propane buses is on the agenda. Click here for the entire agenda.
