Snow Storm Update: Weather and Delays

School is delayed for 2 hours. No warmer weather in sight.

The Kings Park Central School District is having a delayed opening of 2 hours due to yet another snowfall. The Long Island Power Authority is reporting no outages for the Kings Park area and trains are on or close to schedule with no cancellations being reported.

Our area has received about two to five inches of snow complicating the morning commute.  According to local weather blogger, Matt Hammer, the snow is expected to taper off into flurries by this afternoon.

“We'll start to clear out this afternoon and then temperatures will plummet into the teens for tonight,” said Hammer.

There’s not much good news in the forecast. Temperatures are expected to drop even lower this weekend with highs in the low to mid 20’s with overnight temperatures falling to single digits. There is a possibility for more wintry weather Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
