The Friends of the Smithtown Library have announced the lineup for the summer concert series.
The shows which are held on Thursday evening in July and August kick off on July 7 at 8 p.m. with the Billy Joel tribute band, Big Shot. The shows, which attracted over 25,000 people last year, will be held in the Branch Shopping Plaza due to the ongoing renovations at the Smithtown Library.
The annual concert series has been renamed the Dennis Cannataro Family Concert Series in honor of Suffolk County Legislator Lynne Nowick’s brother who passed away suddenly earlier this year.
Cannataro created the concert series seven years ago with Dave Berner of the library district.
“He loved organizing and coordinating the concerts,” said Nowick. “He took great pride in making this an extraordinary community event.”
The shows are made possible through a grant secured by legislator.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to enjoy some great music and all that downtown Smithtown has to offer,” said Nowick.
