Music on Main Street This Summer? Count on It

Organizers finalizing last details for the summer series.

Kings Park residents can look forward to the sweet sound of music on Main Street this summer, as civic organizers get closer to finalizing the details of the weekly music series.

Organizer Carol Kelly said residents can expect a series of six Friday night concerts this summer beginning June 24.

“The music will be family friendly. We hope to draw people into the town to shop and visit the local establishments,” said Kelly.

The event will be called Musical Moments in Kings Park and would be similar to Happenings on Main in Northport where local bands and musicians play while pedestrians shop, dine and enjoy the outdoor entertainment. Musicians will set up in Russ Savatt Park next to Ralph’s Ices.

The Kings Park Civic Association as well as the Chamber of Commerce has agreed to provide the basic funding to get the program started. The funds will be used to buy signs to promote the concerts and if necessary a permit from the town.

“We are looking to see if we need a permit for the event,” said Kelly.
