PHOTO: Councilman Robert Creighton Acts as Aide in NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade

Creighton marched representing the Knights of St. Patrick in the 252nd annual parade held in New York City.

Smithtown Councilman Robert Creighton marched down Fifth Avenue as an Aide to the Grand Marshal, Alfred E. Smith IV, at this year's 252nd  annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City.

According to the St. Patrick's Day Parade website, The New York City St Patrick’s Parade marched for the first time in 1762 and is regarded as the most popular of the all the Parades in New York City, honoring Saint Patrick - the patron Saint of the Archdiocese of New York and Ireland.  

The New York Parade consists only of marchers and each year hosts some 250,000 marchers and two million spectators.

Creighton marched representing the Knights of St. Patrick and has been a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. His wife Gerry served as Grand Marshal for the Kings Park St. Patrick's Day Parade in 2012.
