Park View PFA Board Vote Stalled

Members take it in stride, get back to the work at hand.

A large crowd was present at the Parent Faculty Association last night to vote in a new board only to find out that there was a problem in the bylaws that prevented that from happening.

An overlooked item in the bylaws stated that a nominee must hold a position for one year before running for a board position. Two of the nominees did not fill that qualification.

Those at the meeting seemed to take it in stride and a new election is slated to take place sometime in April or May.

School principal, Jeanne Devine said, “It happens. The important thing is that we are fixing it.” PFA president Fran Sullo agreed. “We are looking at changing the bylaws to avoid this happening again,” she said.

In order for the bylaws to be changed there needs to be a quorum of two-thirds of the members to agree on the change.

Notice of the proposal to make a change in the bylaws will be sent to parents via e-mail and children’s backpacks.

Upcoming events from the PFA include author night, a ladies night out fundraiser and Winter Wonderland, an annual tradition where members make a themed transformation of the gym after students have left on Friday. Monday when school is back in session the students walk into a  decked out gym  with interactive  stations where children can play and learn.

"We will be here probably until about 10pm or later. It's a lot of work, but the kids love it," said Sullo.

This editor knows the theme, but my lips are sealed until the big reveal on Monday. Check back on Friday to get a sneak peak of PFA members hard at work., but you will have to wait until Monday to see the after shots.
